Security & data protection
Your data is yours
An estate inventory means handling a family's most private information. This page shows you, clearly and honestly, how we protect it and what we never do.
In short
Your data is yours, and it is not for sale. The service is a one-time 99 euro payment, so we earn from the service, not from your data. We have no ads and no reason to sell or share anything.
Your data stays in the EU and is encrypted. You can download all of it or delete it whenever you want. The AI assistant never sees personal identity codes. Below we go through each point in detail.
There is a real Finnish company behind this
Regulus Holding Oy
Business ID: 3424114-4
Konkelonkatu 24, 33870 Tampere, Finland
You can verify us in the Finnish Business Information System (YTJ). A real person answers email at tuki@perukirja.io.
Where your data lives
The application is hosted in the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany (AWS), with the database in the same region (Neon).
- Connections are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or newer)
- Data is encrypted at rest by the database and storage infrastructure using AES-256
- Personal identity codes and other sensitive data stay within this protected EU region
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal data
- We never use estate data for advertising
- We never share your data with others without your consent or a legal obligation
How the AI assistant handles your data
Pesäavustaja helps by answering questions about your specific estate, so it sees some of your case data. We are open about what is and isn't sent to it. You can use the entire service without it.
- The assistant sees, for example, the deceased's and heirs' names and the assets and debts so it can help
- Personal identity codes are removed before any data is sent to the assistant
- Processing happens in the EU (Google Vertex AI), and under Google's Cloud terms your conversations are not used to train Google's AI models
- The assistant gives general guidance, not binding legal or tax advice
- The assistant is read-only and cannot change your data
Who can see your data
The estate data you enter is visible only in your own account: no other user — shareholder or relative — can see it. Your password is not stored in readable form, so not even we can see it. If you wish, you can enable a passkey in settings and sign in with your device's fingerprint or face recognition instead of a password, or two-step verification, which asks for an authenticator-app code alongside your password.
You are always in control
In Settings you can download all your data as a single file and delete your account and all estate data. Deletion is confirmed by an email link. If you ever stop, your data is yours to take with you.
Payment and accounting records are kept for at least six years as required by law, and data in backups is removed once the restore window closes. You will find exact retention periods in the privacy policy.
Our partners
Your estate data is stored in the EU. We use a few trusted partners to run the service; some, such as email, may process limited data outside the EU under EU data-protection safeguards. Here is each one, openly:
- Server infrastructure and database: Amazon Web Services and Neon (EU, Frankfurt)
- AI assistant: Google Vertex AI (EU)
- Payments: Paytrail. We never see your card details
- Email: Resend (US, under EU safeguards)
- Analytics: PostHog (EU). We do not send your name or email there; full analytics only with your consent
